Periodical Examination

Regular periodical examination shall be conducted throughout the course. In addition there shall be regular assessment of student’s assignment. In Case of absence from any periodical examination without any reasonable ground which is not satisfactory to the college administration, the student shall not be allowed to appear in the university examination. Any student found using unfair means during any periodical examination will not be allowed for further examinations and will be liable to be detained / expelled.

Preferred Languages

English and Kannada

Candidates must have obtained not less than 50% of total marks in the three years of study and 45% in case of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled tribe, Category – 1 and Physically Handicapped.
Regulations for two year (four semesters) bachelor degree in education (B.Ed) programme under choice based credit system (CBCS) and continuous assessment grading pattern(CAGP).

Attendance Details

Student must be regular in attendance in classes including practical and internship 85% attendance in a subject for appearing in the university examination is compulsory provided the student has 80% attendance in non-lecture teaching i.e. seminars, group discussions, tutorials, practice teaching, demonstrations, craft practical, CCA and community life etc.

  1. The students are required to maintain the requirements of attendance, which are mandatory as per norms laid down by the Mangalore University.
  2. As the B.Ed Degree programme is very compact, comprehensive and intensive; students should be present at all activities – academic and co – curricular.
  3. Incase of absence due to legitimate reasons they are required to submit leave notes in the accepted format well in advance.

Eligibility and Choice of Pedagogic Subjects

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Ed programme should be as prescribed by NCTE and UGC and State Government as listed below

  1. Candidates with at least 50% marks either in Bachelor’s Degree and/or the Master’s degree in science/Social science/Humanity, Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with Specialisation in science and mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent to that are eligible for admission to the programme. SC/ST/OBC/PWD/371(J) and any other categories/ type shall be as per the rules of the Central Government/State Government whichever is applicable.
  2. The Candidate should specify whether he desire to be a
  1. Teacher for 6 - 8 and 9-10 std eligibility
  2. Teacher for 8-10 and 11-12 std eligibility (only for PG qualified)

  • Students of Universities outside the Karnataka State should produce the Eligibility Certificate and Migration certificate
  • Students of Universities other than the Mangalore University should produce the Migration Certificate.
  • The Blood Group of the student has to be notified to the University. Filling in the Column No, 3.3 in the Application Form is absolutely necessary.
  • Candidates having defective vision and hearing should send along with the application, a certificate regarding eyesight and hearing.
Note:

Students are requested to take sufficient number of attested copies of their certificates before submitting them to the office. The certificates will not be given to the students after admission till the completion of the course. No correspondence or action will be taken on such requisitions.

Each credit has equivalence of 25 marks and 23 hours of theory work load. In case of 100 marks theory course there shall be 60 periods of classroom presentation and hands on experience and similar hours of equivalent tutorials, seminars, hands on experience and similar works.

Medium of Instruction

Medium of instruction for the course is both English and Kannada. So candidates may write the examination in Kannada for all papers except for language pedagogy papers. The language pedagogy paper shall be written in the language as directed in the subject of study.
